Our district needs your help. We are looking for energetic, creative and self-motivated interns to join our team and help us serve CD 8 residents. Opportunities are available in our City Hall Office and our District Office in South Los Angeles. The internship is unpaid and available for students looking to gain experience in public service. Schedules are flexible and applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
Councilmember Harris-Dawson represents parts of South Los Angeles. He is the Chair of the Planning, Land Use and Management Committee and leads various transnational initiatives including Destination Crenshaw. Interning with our office is a great opportunity to learn while working alongside passionate and talented professionals committed to supporting our communities greatest asset, its people.

- What Do Interns Do
Interns work in a variety of areas including legislation, scheduling, social media, photography, videography, community outreach, casework and constituent services and special events. Projects and assignments will vary depending on interest, but all interns should have administrative skills, strong customer service skills and a willingness to serve constituents with diverse needs.
Intern duties may include:
Helping to answer phones, route calls, and take messages Assisting constituents with requests for city services Drafting letters, certificates, resolutions and briefing documents Assisting office staff in projects and assignments related to policy, communications, urban planning, scheduling, special events and community outreach
- What We’re Looking For
Preferred qualifications: Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program. Students who are studying social work, political science, public administration, business, public policy, urban planning, architecture, communications or any other related field of study. Schedules are negotiable, but we require a minimum of 15 hours per week.
