JEDI Zone

In 2023 Council District Eight received our first JEDI Zone (Jobs and Economic Development Incentive Zone) The zone encompasses Crenshaw from Vernon to 60th. We’re excited for this designation as it will help our mom-and-pop businesses on Crenshaw so they can continue to operate in our community. My office has held informational sessions for business in this zone. If you are interested in learning how to access resources through this program visit LINK.

Senior Meals

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic my office created a program to activate our local restaurants (that faced financial instability) with our seniors who needed access to healthy foods. Within 2 weeks we had our program running and served 2,209 seniors and assisted 32 businesses. Our office was one of the first, if not the first to use the tactic of activating our local businesses in service during lockdown. The Mayor, County Supervisor, and Governor visited us to learn about our model and scale up citywide and statewide.

Currently the senior meals program is run through the Department of Aging. The program is full but they have a waiting list. For more information click here
