Community Safety Partnership

Harris-Dawson at CSP event

Council District 8 has implemented the Community Safety Partnership (CSP) in our local parks. What was frequently used as a program to build community-centric policing in our public housing projects, CD8 applied and tailored this program with community input at Harvard Park. The Harvard Park Community Safety Partnership has been operating since 2017. In that period there have been zero homicides in what was previously known as a dangerous park.

In 2024 we officially launched the Algin Sutton Community Safety Partnership.

Benefits of CSP:
  • Creating safer public spaces and connections in the community between neighbors, Recreation and Parks staff, Community Intervention Workers, and Los Angeles Police Department.
  • Recruiting officers dedicated to serving the community and embedding in the neighborhood.
  • Organizing to gain more resources and programming for the community.
  • Creating routes for officers and/or Community Intervention Workers to help bolster safe passages from school to the park.
