Rachel Brashier, Deputy Chief of Staff
Rachel oversees legislative matters, advises on communications & strategy and coordinates intergovernmental relations for the 8th District.
Prior to joining the Council Office, Rachel worked for Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa as a press secretary focusing on housing and homelessness issues Citywide; she also served as a legislative deputy and liaison to the City Council in the Villaraigosa administration. Before joining the 8th Council District, Rachel was the Assistant Director for Community & Local Government Relations at UCLA.
A native Angeleno, Rachel grew up in Compton and Watts and continues to work towards the progressive and substantive development of South Los Angeles. She is currently the President of the CA Black Women’s Democratic Club and attended Syracuse University receiving a B.A. in Policy Studies and an M.P.A from New York University.
